Clara Jackson-Mathis
I recently lost a friend. A former Administrative Assistant in the department where I had worked for a couple of years. Clara Jackson-Mathis. Clara Jackson-Mathis was a tall, strong African American woman with a husband and two daughters. Clara Jackson-Mathis was a retired Sergeant in the US Air Force. I was sitting in the back row of the church with some of the folks that Clara and I used to work with and it hit me. The greatest lessons I have learned about leadership have come from Clara. Clara taught me to always support your staff or “your people”. She taught me that you will need their support many times, so it is imperative that you support them at all times. Just a former co-worker leaned over to me and explained that when you take a leadership position people the expectation is that you have learned what he needed to do the job, but the truth is, we are always learning.
A good leader is always learning!
Thank you Clara, for the lessons!
Thank you Clara, for being a good leader!
